1920’s |
- A farmer decides to sell his rocky lakeside land to the Wertz family et. al. of Spencer Iowa, who begin to build lake cabins for rent.
- Later that year a young couple just out of college, Walter G. & Mabel Benjamin of Pipestone Minnesota, accidentally drive into the area while seeking directions. They love the location and pitch their tent.

1930’s |
- The Benjamins establish their tradition of annual family vacations at the resort.

1940’s – 1950’s |
- The Benjamins purchase Kee-Nee-Moo-Sha Resort and over 100 surrounding acres, build additional cabins and add electricity! Swede-crafted split rock fireplace is added to log lodge #12.

1960’s |
- The 2-story log lodge #14 with similar fireplace is completed.
- Seedlings for the great “Red Pine Forest” are planted.

1970’s |
- The first winterized cabins 7 and 11 are built.
|
1980’s |
- The Benjamin children assume ownership of the Resort.
|
1990’s – 2000’s |
- Significant improvements (roads moved, beach & office expansion) and new cabins built, for more great vacations for everyone!
- We welcome the first non-Benjamin family, the Wagners, as they build and purchase several cabins.

Many families continue to build their own multi-generational vacation memories at Kee-Nee-Moo-Sha resort.
